For 53 years Margate has been the venue for a Blessing of The Seas during the Greek Orthodox celebrations at Epiphany. In full regalia, both Greek and Civic communities will parade from St Michaels the Archangel, Westbrook, to the Beach at Nayland Rock. After a short Service, Doves are released, prayers given and a decorated cross is thrown into the waters, then retrieved by a young diver for the Archbishop Gregorios.

The procession from The Greek Orthodox Church in Westbrook is scheduled to take place at 12.30pm and the Blessing of the Sea is to take place around 1.15pm on the Beach, please note these times are approximate, and please wrap-up warm as it gets chilly
