On 20th May 2024, Cllr Jack Packman was elected Town Mayor of Margate for the municipal year 2024-25, with Cllr Katie Pope as Margate’s Deputy Mayor. Mrs Karen Brinkman was appointed Mayoress for the year with Ms Leigh McKenzie as DT Mayoress
At last nights AGM/Mayor Making, Cllr Rob Yates was elected Town Mayor of Margate for the municipal year 2023-2024, with Mrs Iris Johnston as his Mayoress. Cllr John Edwards was elected Deputy Mayor with Mrs Pat Edwards as Deputy Mayoress. The Mayor presented outgoing Mayor and Mayoress with their past Mayor/Mayoress badges and bouquets, and appointed Marine Cadet Katje Skarbarde, as Mayor’s cadet for the mayoral year. Cllr Keen presented Air Cadet Sophia Perkins, with a certificate for her term as Mayor’s cadet. Mrs Ann Wells MBE, was presented with an award in recognition of her 70 year service to Thanet scouts.
The ceremony took place in front of a packed hall of guests who were invited to join the Mayor and Charter Trustees for refreshment following the formal proceedings.
